The Idaho Fish and Game Commission decided yesterday to extend its wolf hunt in more hunting units across the state through March 31, or until each hunting zone reaches its quota.
This decision puts Idaho's wolf population at even further risk than it is already from the premature wolf hunt that Idaho and Montana implemented before wolves are fully recovered in the Northern Rockies.

The Center for Biological Diversity filed a formal 60-day notice of intent to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today over the agency's failure to respond to a scientific petition to list the Mexican gray wolf as "endangered" separate from other gray wolves nationwide.
"The Mexican gray wolf has fallen through the cracks and is receiving insufficient protection," said Michael Robinson of the Center.
"Timely action is essential. We hope the government will acknowledge the strong science we submitted

A Gold Bar-area couple have pleaded guilty to six counts each of felony animal cruelty in the wake of a January raid that rescued more than 150 dogs.
Jason and Serenna Larsen entered their pleas Friday in Snohomish County Superior Court.
Sentencing was set for Jan. 25.

A coyote attack on a bike trail in the city's Interbay neighborhood has some residents fearing for its return.
The coyote was spotted on a walking path along Elliott Bay on Wednesday just moments before it attacked a dog.
"He wasn't going to give up," said Adzani Hunter, who works near the Terminal 91 bike path.

The couple whose January arrest exposed a two-county puppy mill with hundreds of dogs living in squalid conditions pleaded guilty Friday to six counts each of first-degree animal cruelty.
Jason and Serenna Larsen, of Sultan, admitted in Snohomish County Superior Court that they had starved or dehydrated six dogs and as a result caused substantial pain and suffering.
Deputies had seized 160 puppies and breeding dogs, many emaciated and without adequate food or water, from a Gold Bar home.

It seems that her owner abandoned her, most likely because she was born without her two front legs.
